My First Tattoo

I've always wanted a tattoo and only one image has ever been appropriate. That is an eagle. An eagle symbolizes so much to me...going after your dreams, spreading your wings and flying, it is the symbol for America, and most importantly, it was my father's favorite animal. This was because of his favorite bible verse:

"They that call upon the Lord ~

Shall mount up with wings

as Eagles..." Isiah 40:31

I am not an extremely religious person, but my father was, and perhaps someday I will be, too. I am so happy with my tattoo, it is absolutely beautiful. And it will be a constant reminder of the lovely memories I have with my father, as well as a reminder to myself to go after my dreams.

A big thank you to Stella for coming with me even though it took forever and you couldn't even come back with me. It took four hours and was the most painful experience of my life. I honestly cannot believe I went through with it. I screamed, yelled explicitives, and asked for an epidural. I'm pretty sure childbirth can't even be as painful as that. I kept thinking of Bella from Twilight, maybe that's what it felt like when she turned into a vampire. I told the tattoo artists that they should paint a mural on the ceiling...maybe "Where's Waldo?" so I could have spent the four hours trying to look for him, instead of writhing in pain.
A boy came in to get a tattoo of his girlfriend's name (stupid stupid stupid) on his neck (scary scary scary)...he was looking at me with wide eyes, scared to death to get his first tattoo because of the pain I was in. They told him I was 3 hours in and the foot is one of the most painful places. But I didn't cry. Crazy. A big thank you to Chelsea for drawing me such a BEAUTIFUL image. I cried the first time I saw it.
